Your Study Journey

Student Guidance

We would like to congratulate all our students on their studies and examinations. Studying for and taking an exam is hard work and a commitment at the best of times and all should be proud of the hard work they've undertaken to get this far. That said, we know that some of you will be looking for guidance on your next steps - we have taken the opportunity to provide some guidance to help you move forward with your study journey.

Examination Guidance

I've passed - what's next?

Congratulations on passing your exam! It's a great achievement and you should be proud of the work you've put in. If you want to keep studying, then check out our course page to see what qualification you want to tackle next - if you've got any questions about which qualification is right for you then please contact us and we'd be happy to help.

I've failed - what's next?

Further information on examination procedures can be found in our Assessment section. Finding out you have not been successful is never easy, though it can be part of the journey to success; we are here to help you in your next steps. Depending on your result, you may wish to resit the examination only or reattend the workshops and resit the examination (please note that fees apply).

Once you've made your decision you'll need to complete the Course Administration Form and send it to our Customer Service and Admissions Team at cltinternational@centlaw.com

If you have any questions or need help deciding on the best route forward, contact us on +44 (0) 121 362 7733 or cltinternational@centlaw.com and we would be happy to help.

Assessment

How and when will I receive my examination or assignment results?

Results are usually released via email within six to eight weeks of the examination or assignment submission date.

Will I be sent a certificate and when will I receive it?

A certificate shall be issued to you, both via soft and hard copy within four to six weeks of the result date. When you have completed the STEP Diploma, you will also receive an overall completion certificate which shall be posted within six weeks of the release of your final result. From November 2022 all graduate certificates will state only the STEP Diploma award, though a bespoke certificate with the student’s nominated Diploma pathway can be supplied if needed to support one of the following professional circumstances:

  • Government visa or funding applications
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Employer verification(s).

Please note that certificates are not issued for all courses.

What is the pass mark?
The pass mark for both STEP and CLTI Fund qualifications is 50%. Marks of over 60% will achieve a merit, and marks of over 70% will achieve a distinction.

What is the format of assignments and examinations?
For examinations, this varies significantly from course to course and you should check the specifics for the course on which you intend to enrol. Assignments should generally be no more than 3500 words in length and are written in response to a question or case study published by CLT International. Again, there may be some variation between courses and you should check the requirements for the course on which you are looking to register.

How many attempts at an examination or assignment am I allowed?
You are allowed a maximum of three attempts at an examination or assignment.

What do I do if I have a reasonable adjustment and require a special arrangement to be made for me to sit the examination?
If you need a reasonable adjustment due to a disability you will need to make a separate application to CLT International at least six weeks prior to your assessment or workshop.
