The STEP Certificate in Foundations has been designed to help professionals in the wealth management industry understand the evolution of the foundation concept, including how it should be set up and administered as well as the full range of its potential uses.
Created by experts in the field, Professor John Goldsworth, Gavin Ferguson TEP and Filippo Noseda TEP, this course contains a series of practical examples from various international jurisdictions that illustrate the key differences in the formation and management of foundations and their distinctive uses in wealth structuring.
After completing the Certificate you will be able to:
- Describe the structure of foundations
- Detail the differences and similarities between trusts and foundations
- Identify when a foundation may be the most appropriate option to achieve a client’s aims
- Demonstrate awareness of local foundation legislation
- Identify the traps in creating and administering foundations for the unwary wealth professional
Delivered through our online learning platform, delegates based anywhere in the world are able to enrol and the course takes four months to complete.
Assessment is by way of an online multiple choice examination consisting of 60 questions. The first section of the examination focuses on the theory and law surrounding the creation, administration and use of foundations. The second section contains a practical element asking candidates to interpret clauses and resolutions contained within a pre-seen Foundation Charter and Rules/Regulations relating to the administration of a Foundation.
We recommend that you spend between four and six hours each week on personal study for the four months prior to the examination.
After you have successfully completed the course, you will gain 30 Entry Level credits towards STEP membership.
